Name specimen
A degree show piece that set a type specimen from your name. It crashed on opening night.
My degree show piece at Leeds Arts University. You typed your name and it was set as a type specimen in fourteen weights, printed on the spot.
Opening night
It crashed at 7.40 pm, about four minutes after the first visitor typed a name with an apostrophe. I fixed it by nine. That evening taught me more about input than the dissertation did.
A recording of the specimen survives, apostrophes included.
